As we navigate the complexities of modern life, from work stress to societal pressures, it’s crucial to prioritize our mental health and seek support when needed. Let’s use this month to spread awareness, share resources, and advocate for the mental health of all.
On Tuesday, May 7th, the VHS Rams host the AHSAA Semifinal Baseball Playoffs at Crestview Field in Valley! First pitch is at 5:30 pm EST. The CCSD will provide an airconditioned shuttle bus to help with the overflow for parking at Crestview. Fans can park at the Valley HS gym & catch the shuttle bus to the games every 10 minutes for the duration to & from the playoff games hosting Mobile Christian H.S. The free shuttle service will begin at 4:00 pm EST Good Luck to the Rams in the playoffs for the Final Four in Class 5A.
Teachers deserve our appreciation year-round for all they do to help our students learn, grow, & succeed. But this week especially, we're celebrating & thanking our teachers for their hard work & dedication to education.

It can protect them from 6 cancers tied to the HPV virus. If you wish for your child to receive the vaccine, please complete the form sent home by the nurse, check the box for HPV vaccine, sign, & return in the stamped envelope. If you want your child to receive the HPV vaccine but are not sure if they've already been vaccinated, you can go still complete the form & our school nurses will double check with the vaccine registry for the ADPH. If your child has received all the recommended HPV vaccine doses, the nurse will destroy the form & your child will not be vaccinated. If you have questions please contact the school nurses.

Our CCSD Amazing Shake winners, Ava Claire Scott & Gabby Robles from W.F. Burns both shined in their internship experience over 3 days this week at the Alabama House of Representatives in Montgomery. The students served as official "Pages" working directly with Rep. Debbie Wood while meeting other officials including Senator Randy Price. We are saddened by the death of our colleague and friend, Michelle Lane, who passed away on April 19, 2024. She loved her students and enjoyed seeing former students and supported and cheered them on as they went through their high school years. She always enjoyed participating in school-wide activities that brought the staff and students laughter. She was always willing to dress up, dance, lip-sync, and celebrate Huguley students' successes. Her coworkers were her family. Please keep her family and friends in your prayers.
The CCSD hosted its first Career Connect Job Fair earlier today at Inspire Academy. In all, 22 employers attended to conduct interviews, accept applications & collect resumes from students. More than 180 seniors and juniors from across the CCSD participated. This even included work based learning opportunities for current juniors for their 2024-25 school year. Special thanks to all employers that participated and those staff that organized this successful event for our students!
The CCSD recognized the Amazing Shake finalists with awards at the Wednesday, April 17th Board of Education Meeting. (L to R) 5th & 6th Grade - Andrew Grant (3rd Place - Eastside-JPP Magnet School), Ada Yarbrough (2nd Place - W.F. Burns Middle School), & Ava Claire Scott (1st Place - W.F. Burns). For 7th & 8th Grade - Gabby Robles (1st Place - W.F. Burns), Tyler Broussard (3rd Place - Eastside-JPP Magnet School), & Landon Dowell (2nd Place - W.F. Burns Middle School). The Amazing Shake is an exciting competition whereby students learn about professional skills for success.

The CCSD celebrates two of our student athletes for being honored at the Alabama Sportswriters Association luncheon yesterday in Montgomery. Only 21 players from the entire state were selected from 401 AHSAA schools as nominees for the state player of the year awards in classes 1A-7A. Valley HS Senior Cam Dooley was selected as the 5A State Player of the Year & LaFayette HS Senior Vaderrian Story was one of three finalists for the 2A Player of the Year award. Congratulations to both of these student-athletes on an outstanding year representing their schools & Chambers County!
