Sponsors sent $3,000 in books to be gifted to the 6-8th grade students at JP Powell STEAM Magnet School. The Chambers County Board of Education will hold two (2) public hearings concerning the proposed budget for fiscal year 2025. The first public hearing will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. CDT. The second public hearing will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. CDT. CCSD Parents and students get ready to mark your calendars: Alabama's Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday for school-related items begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 19, and ends at midnight Sunday, July 21. Check your school's website and Facebook page for supply lists and dress code requirements, and buy them tax-free Friday through Sunday.

The Operation Wipeout team met today at the CCSD. We know that Chambers County has had the highest incidence of Cervical Cancer in the State of Alabama. Today we are excited to share the 23-24 numbers from Alabama Department of Public Health. HPV vaccine numbers to prevent cervical cancer grew for grades 9-12 at LHS from a range of 70% to 93%. Likewise, the same numbers at VHS increased to a range of 60% to 72.59% students vaccinated against HPV. The numbers also increased at both middle schools. The CCSD is thankful to partner with this team to wipeout cervical cancer here in Chambers County. Reminder all parents and students: The CCSD 2024 Summer School Credit Recovery begins tomorrow & will be hosted at Inspire Academy in LaFayette from 7:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. CST daily. There is an $80 fee for each credit recovery course attempted. There will be 2 sessions beginning on May 29, 30, June 3-13 & June 12 – 27. Both sessions run Monday-Thursday. Classes are open to students in grades 6-12.





Chambers County HOSA is hosting a Blood Drive & Car Wash on Friday, May 24th from 10:00 – 4:00 p.m. EST at the Valley HS parking lot. Lunch will be provided. Your support will help send students to nationals to compete in Houston, TX this summer. Please come out and support!

Students participating in Chambers Co Reading & Math Camps, Credit Recovery Program, Makerspace, and Race Camps during June will have breakfast and lunch provided by the Chambers Co CNP staff volunteers. The Summer Feeding program will be June 3- June 27, 2024 (Mon-Thu).



The CCSD hosted Board Recognition for the District's Academic "Top 3" at Monday night's Board Meeting on May 20, 2024. LaFayette HS "Top Three" were #1) Danasia Thomas, #2) Ny’aiza Linson, and #3) Deaundra Vines. Valley HS "Top Three" were #1) Jackson Sanders, #2) Nevaeh Crane and #3) Lily Smith. CCSD Superintendent, Dr. Casey Chambley presented awards to each of the "Top Three" in recognition of their accomplishments. Congratulations to all the students for their outstanding academic achievements!



The Chambers County Board of Education staff supported "going green" as part of Mental Health Month in May yesterday. Happy Friday, everyone, and good luck to our students in grades 6-11 as they begin semester exams today!




Tomorrow across the CCSD is Mental Health Action Day going “Green” in the CCSD. The theme is “Movement: Moving More for our Mental Health. Students and staff are asked to support mental health on this spirit day & wear your “GREEN” on Thursday, May 16th!





Earlier today, the CCSD, hosted Dr. Isabel Scarinci from UAB, Nancy Wright, Director of Cancer Prevention & Control & representatives from the Alabama Department of Public Health & a team of officials. CCSD HOSA students, Mrs. Jennifer Williams, LHS Principal, Mrs. Brock-Johnson, district leadership & local Rotary Club leadership were on hand meeting with Health Science students as part of the Operation Wipeout effort to reduced Cervical Cancer. Additionally the Health Heroes staff provided HPV vaccines to eligible students at both Valley & LaFayette High Schools. It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you of the death of our colleague and friend, Ms. Amy Burton, who passed away on May 7, 2024. Amy had suffered with a prolonged illness over the past year.
We will all miss her more than words can express. She was not just our co-worker but our good friend as well. Ms. Burton had been an employee of the Chambers County Board of Education since August 2005. She touched many lives during her tenure and her smile and impact will forever be missed.
Please keep Ms. Burton's family in your thoughts and prayers.
